Are early career researchers going to be the harbingers of change?

Three years ago, the Publishing Research Consortium commissioned a highly unusual and ambitious study, the like of which has not been seen in the scholarly communications field.

Around 120 early career researchers (ECRs) from seven countries were in-depth interviewed annually for three-years, in order to establish whether their scholarly behaviours and attitudes were actually changing.

It was felt that this was the only way of robustly addressing that often-asked question, will the new wave of researchers (ECRs) be change agents and upset the scholarly applecart, or will they simply be yet another generation willing to toe the existing line?

The study completes in October 2018 and the paper will provide the first release of its main findings.

Where an event has registration fees, cancellations made in writing up to 30 days before an event are eligible for a 50% refund. No refunds can be made for cancellations received on or after 30 days prior to the event date, however, substitutions may be made free of charge at any time.

Registration fees do not include insurance. Participants are advised to take out adequate personal insurance to cover travel, accommodation, cancellation and personal effects.
