As an experienced Computer Science Editor in the UK, Rachel Moriarty manages a program of 21 traditional journals and was responsible for the successful launch and development of a further five Open Access Journals. She has been working in academic publishing since joining Springer Nature as a Senior Editorial Assistant in 2009, following the completion of an MSc in Publishing. In addition to her primary role, she is also currently responsible for the training and mentoring of new journals staff, and acts in Representative and Ambassadorial roles for several internal Working Groups. Her other areas of expertise and interest include: Open Access, Social Media, Publishing Ethics and Journal Metrics.
Outside of SpringerNature, Rachel currently holds the Chair position of the STM Association’s Early Career Publishers Committee (ECPC) and is also part of their Mentoring and Graduate Publishing Sub-Committees. She recently participated in a panel at the 2017 London Book Fair, discussing "Careers in Academic Publishing: Developing and Enhancing Skills and Experience" along with other members of the ECPC.
