Dr. Hylke Koers is Director of Research Communities at Elsevier, based in Amsterdam.
A physicist by training, he is passionate about improving the way researchers communicate and he enjoys the challenges of connecting innovative web technology with the social dynamics around scholarly publication.
In his current role, Hylke works closely with research groups to explore and test how Mendeley can better support interaction, discussion, and collaboration between researchers.
Prior to this, he was responsible for the Content Innovation program at Elsevier, which advances the format of the scholarly article through web-based tools like interactive data viewers.
Hylke also co-chaired the ICSU-WDS / RDA Publishing Data Services Working Group, which recently delivered the cross-industry SCHOLIX framework for linking research data and the literature.
