The American Physical Society (APS) has chosen Aptara to manage the invoicing and collection of its Open Access, publishing, color, reprint, and rights and permissions charges utilizing Aptara’s SciPris platform. APS is the premier publisher of physics content in the world, publishing over 19,500 journal articles each year.

Aptara recognized a need for an invoicing and payment platform that was customizable based on each publisher’s unique workflow, peer review and production systems, and collection categories. The web-based platform automates the calculation of each charge, provides a user-friendly payment gateway, and gives publishers insight through alerts and custom reports.

APS Publisher Matthew Salter said, “SciPris will be integrated with our internal production tracking system, seamlessly pulling author and article metadata. Utilizing SciPris will help us to improve the experience of the scholarly publishing process for our authors and their funding institutions through features like splitting costs between multiple authors and the ability to invoice in multiple currencies. APS chose Aptara because they were able to provide a customizable and cost-effective solution to our customer service needs.”

“We continue to invest in the development of platforms that complement our traditional publishing services and integrate with third-party publishing tools and systems,” said Samir Kakar, President of Aptara. “We are delighted to be expanding our long-standing relationship with APS and will continue to provide customized solutions that meet their needs.”
