We are looking for an experienced Campaign Manager (based in the USA) to join our busy team. You will work closely with the Marketing Manager and Head of Content and Engagement Marketing within the Content and Engagement Marketing team (based in the United Kingdom) to create and implement the strategic vision for your portfolio of journals within North America.

Role Summary

The Campaign Manager will be accountable for achieving annual marketing objectives and KPIs for IOP Publishing’s journal portfolio through the implementation of multi-channel marketing campaigns (across email, social, search, in-person and virtual events, etc.)

Marketing strategies and activities will support the primary business goal of winning and retaining customers: primarily authors, reviewers and readers. Integral to this is the need to maximise content growth and visibility within North America through the engagement of researchers in the region with IOPP’s products and services.

Key job accountabilities:

  • Responsible for performing annual analysis for their portfolio and setting SMART objectives that directly support the publishing strategy for their portfolio and products and overall business objectives.
  • Plan and prioritise the marketing campaigns for your portfolio.
  • Create engaging and impactful campaigns which support business objectives.
  • Implementing activities identified in the marketing plan to raise awareness, support article usage, content growth and engaging with authors.
  • Collaborate with publishing colleagues to understand product positioning and campaign requirements.
  • Collaborate with the marketing operations team to ensure the successful delivery of tactical email campaigns, including supplying campaign brief and marketing copy.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to raise awareness, support article usage and citations, content growth and engagement with authors via press releases, interviews, news stories etc.
  • Deliver presentations and produce reports as required.
  • Make data-driven decisions when planning campaigns and activities to optimise performance.
  • Fully understand and use multiple data systems to support and proactively suggest and plan activity.

About you:

Successful applicants should demonstrate the following:

  • Ideally holds a professional qualification in marketing or equivalent work experience in marketing.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in creating and implementing marketing strategies and tactical plans, and able to demonstrate an understanding of marketing concepts.
  • Experience preparing and managing a budget, and the ability to measure performance against goals, evaluate results and seek improvements.
  • Experience in reporting on marketing performance to stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • A good understanding of Open Access, Transformative Agreements and wider STM publishing and research landscape.
  • Good time management skills, managing multiple marketing campaigns at any one time.
  • Is proactive in seeking new ways to build on or change the current processes, workflows or practices in the marketing department.
  • Can write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles, to get messages across that have the desired effect on different audiences.

This is a remote role based in North America. Whilst we have an IOP Publishing office in Philadelphia, USA, there are no requirements for the person in this role to attend the office. There may be requirements to travel to conferences within North America and to visit the IOP Publishing Headquarters in Bristol, UK, subject to business needs.
