We are recruiting for a Systems Manager: Books and Conference Proceedings on a 12 month fixed term contract.

Role Summary

The Systems Manager will be responsible for the effective provision of systems that support the operation and development of the conference proceedings and book publishing programmes. The post holder will work with external vendors and internal technology department colleagues to ensure that their systems provide an excellent service and experience for our authors, partners and customers whilst balancing this against internal stakeholder requirements and budgets.

What will you be doing? 

Key job accountabilities

  • Vendor management: hold suppliers to account such that they deliver on time, to budget and to specified quality standards

  • Act as the voice of the customer within the business whilst balancing their needs with internal stakeholder requirements and budgetary constraints

  • Manage print and digital book distribution operations (retail, wholesale and institutional)

  • Manage product metadata standards and delivery

About you

Successful applicants should demonstrate the following:          

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (desired)

  • Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt (desired)

Knowledge & previous experience

  • Demonstrable understanding of customers and their requirements in the STM Publishing market (desired)

  • Demonstrable data-driven approach to decision making, utilising validated customer feedback and insights as well as business metrics to make decisions

  • Experience of continuous improvement and, ideally, lean methodology

  • Expert user of all relevant analytical and reporting tools including MS Power Apps

Flexibility: The contractual location of this role is IOP’s Bristol office but we will consider applicants from a wider geographical area who are happy to travel to Bristol. IOP has a flexible, hybrid working model in place, in which colleagues largely decide where they work.
