Position: Publishing Systems CoordinatorContract: 6 months fixed term contractSalary: £36,216 pro rataStart date: ASAPBMJ seeks an efficient, organised and proactive Publishing Systems Coordinator (fixed term - 6 months) to join the Operations Department. Reporting into the Publishing Systems Manager, you will work closely with the other Publishing Systems Coordinators on the development of the peer review, ecommerce and production systems to meet the needs of the changing researcher and industry landscape. The role will act as a point of contact for day-to-day matters between the Operations team, stakeholders from across the business and third-party suppliers. Responsibilities- Support the submission to publication process for Journals, The BMJ, Data, and Technology teams, and their interoperability within the wider business.- Adopt a data-driven, agile and evidence-based approach, working with the other members of the team to input into the triage and prioritisation process, and to configure monthly sprints to continuously improve our offering.- Contribute to the development of the BMJ Journals editorial policies, providing technical expertise to ensure that new policies will be appropriate and workable.- Implement process improvements, optimise user journeys, uphold data integrity, and develop and maintain fit for purpose tools and processes.- Manage the system processes for launching, acquiring, closing and transferring journal titles to ensure that the process is as efficient as possible.Qualifications- The person will need to inspire confidence, and be a creative problem solver at a high level.- Extensive experience working in an STM publishing (preferably operations) environment.- Significant experience and knowledge of publishing submission, tracking, and payment systems, and the industry ecosystem surrounding them.- Strong organizational and administrative skills, with attention to detail.- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.- Pragmatic and creative problem-solver, with a can-do approach.- Experience of cloud-based systems, such as ScholarOne.- Extensive experience and familiarity with industry-standard technologies for peer review.- Good level of data and digital competency, with a systematic approach to problem solving across multiple systems.- Some knowledge of APIs, markup language, XML, DTDs, and tagsets.- Experience of Agile methodology and product management would be beneficial.- Experience training all levels within a business on systems would be beneficial.
