We currently have a fantastic opportunity to join the Royal Society of Chemistry as a Publishing Assistant (Customer Services) on a permanent full-time basis, although part-time working would also be considered. It is possible that start and finish times can be flexible to accommodate your needs.

At the Royal Society of Chemistry we embrace flexibility and offer hybrid working, which means our teams come together when they need to collaborate. Although this role is contractually based at our Cambridge office, you will be able to work from home within the UK, with the expectation that you will attend the office as needed for your role. In this role it is expected that you will attend the office at least two days per month (initially more frequently to support your induction). As Publishing Assistant (Customer Services) you will ensure an excellent customer experience is provided through the day-to-day operation of various production process for journal articles, including open access licencing, article processing charges (APCs) and article publication. Our Customer Services team plays a key role enabling the Journals publishing team to achieve its aim of being a digital-first publisher focused on delivering high-quality, accessible, impactful content and an excellent customer experience. This role directly contributes to the journals strategy by supporting the Royal Society of Chemistry’s transition to open access and increased focus on digital services and customer experience (authors, reviewers and readers).

We are looking for:

    • A high-standard of word processing and record-keeping, ability to use other software packages associated with PCs and opening and manipulating of file attachments of varying types of software.
    • Good organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to:
    • work under pressure and prioritise to meet deadlines.
    • work with minimal supervision and be responsible for own workload.
    • Good attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Good communication skills in interacting with internal and external contacts.
    • Proven ability to work as part of a team.
