Reporting into the Production Operations Manager and working as part of a large team of Production Editors and Language Editors across different regions, you will be responsible for providing high quality copyediting and proofreading services in a timely and efficient manner. You will be working on a group of prestigious products published on behalf of a high-profile society partner. As a Language Editor, you will ensure that articles are appropriately styled for publication, following the conventions and preferences of the partner’s house style.
What will you be doing?
Key job accountabilities include:
- Provide effective language editing and proofreading services to meet agreed standards;
- Manage supplier and freelance quality in terms of style and language editing;
- Provide editorial support to production editors and partners, and ad hoc editorial support to the wider department as required.
Successful applicants should demonstrate:
- Excellent editorial skills with previous experience working with style guides and copyediting academic content;
- Effective communication skills, organizational skills; ability to plan and balance priorities;
- Computer literacy;
- Ability to work on own initiative, and flexibly as part of a team;
- Professional attitude with a diligent and dedicated approach, and exceptional attention to detail;
- Previous experience in a production role, involving either print or electronic formats, would be highly advantageous, but is not essential as full training will be provided.
