About the role:
We have an exciting new opportunity for a highly motivated and commercially minded Commissioning Editor to join our growing conference proceedings journals team at IOP Publishing. Reporting to the Publisher, you will be responsible for winning new business and providing an excellent level of service to our existing customers. You will identify target conferences within IOP’s subject remit and develop networks with organisers and scientific committee members to grow IOP’s market share in conference publishing. You will build and maintain excellent working relationships with customers and work closely with the Coordinators and colleagues in the Production department to see volumes through to publication.
We are looking for a candidate with a proven experience of acquiring content and a strong track record of achieving targets.
- A degree-level education
- Significant experience in STM publishing
- A focus on maintaining strong customer relationships
- A results-orientated mindset and a record of achieving targets
- Proven ability to manage publishing products from initiation through to launch
- Exemplary interpersonal skills
- Willingness to travel: regular national and international travel for conferences, university campus visits and other meetings
- A first (BSc or BA) or second degree (PhD or MSc) in a scientific subject
- Proven experience in working with Publishing partners
