IOP Publishing are recruiting for a creative and commercially-focused Marketing Manager - Media who will be responsible for developing and delivering marketing strategies for the products within the Media Group. This is a fixed-term contract covering maternity, initially for 12 months, with the possibility of extension.

IOP Publishing’s Media Group consists of journalism, content management, advertising sales and production, product management, marketing, and business development. The Media Group produces the internationally renowned Physics World, in all its formats including print & digital magazines, website, special reports, webinars and podcasts, and also partners with many organisations for their media needs, including CERN and ESRF.

As Marketing Manager - Media, you will propose marketing strategies for products, to contribute to the delivery of Media Group strategic objectives. You will also be accountable for devising and implementing tactical marketing activities to deliver on these marketing plans, to budget, schedule, and meet agreed KPIs.

As the senior marketing role in the Media Group, you will be part of the Media management team, working closely with the Head of Media Group, Editor in Chief, Content & Product Lead, Business Development Manager and Group Advertising Manager, as well as other marketing teams throughout the business.

About you:

Successful applicants should demonstrate the following:

  • Experience in Media/B2B marketing, with in-depth knowledge of marketing concepts, channels and tactics.
  • Knowledge of print, online and multimedia publishing would be ideal.
  • Solid understanding of GDPR.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to generate ideas and solutions.
  • High-level communication and interpersonal skills in a variety of settings and styles, to manage multiple stakeholders, including external business relationships.
  • Strong negotiation skills to be deployed when prioritising activity with sales, content and product management stakeholders.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Experience/training in Continuous Improvement is an advantage.
