The Production Editor coordinates the production of CSP and client journals and completes quality assurance tasks, ensuring that production schedules and quality standards are met. They also handle various journal website administration tasks. The Production Editor reports to the Production Manager and has no reports.

SPECIFIC DUTIES
 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
1. Coordinates the preparation and tracking of all journal content for assigned journals, ensuring the successful and timely publication of all content.
2. Completes quality assurance tasks for all articles published in assigned journals, i.e., checking for consistency and quality at different stages of production (e.g., initial layouts, author corrections, final web files) according to established quality assurance guidelines.
3. Sends files supplied by Clients to vendor for metadata creation and uploading to the website, conducts quality check of uploaded files, and pushes articles live.
4. Monitors vendor performance and provides regular feedback to vendors.
5. Identifies and recommends process improvements to maximize efficiency and ensure production accuracy and quality.
6. Supports authors through the publication process, addressing any queries effectively and courteously.
7. Coordinates the publication of Collections, with guidance and support from the Journal Development Specialist, ensuring that published Collections are complete and accurate.
8. Handle various website administration tasks such as tagging article access (open access or free), adding articles to Collections, making text edits to journal web pages, loading client advertisements, and loading Editors’ Choice articles, etc., as required.
9. Coordinates the deposit of articles to our partner repository as requested by author.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
Requirements
• A Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree OR a Bachelor degree and/or relevant experience
• Experience copy editing scientific materials and familiarity with the Council of Science Editors style guide.
• Knowledge of the publication process is an asset.
• Understanding of the use of XML in production and publishing systems, as well as familiarity with XML tagging, is an asset.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite
