Miriam Maus

Miriam Maus is Publishing Director at IOP Publishing (IOPP), one of the world’s leading learned society publishers.  Combining the values of a scholarly society with the expertise and efficiency of a global publisher, IOPP delivers impact, recognition and value to the scientific community.

Miriam leads the creation and delivery of the organisation’s publishing strategy, supporting an international team of colleagues. IOPP’s product portfolio encompasses over 100 open access and hybrid journals, books, conference proceedings and a global science news programme, many of which are published in partnership with other learned societies.

Miriam is a member of IOPP’s Board of Directors and leads the Sustainability Taskforce to better understand and manage the environmental impacts of the organisation’s activities.

During her 23 years in academic publishing Miriam has created strategies, developed business opportunities and led diverse teams through periods of change and growth. Prior to joining IOPP, Miriam worked for Blackwell Publishing and Wiley in a range of senior leadership roles, most recently as Vice President and Managing Director, Editorial Management.

Passionate about increasing access to research worldwide, she serves on Research4Life’s Executive Council to advise on their strategic and operational decisions.  She is also a Trustee for the New Phytologist Foundation and a member of the Publisher’s Association Academic Publishers Council.
