Tony O’Rourke

Tony O’Rourke has spent his entire professional career in publishing working across many different sectors and publication types.  He started his career with VNU Business Publications working on sales of directories, advertising as well as industry newsletters developing some of the earliest business models for the delivery of online content.  He then spent eight years with Chadwyck-Healey (now part of ProQuest), a pioneer in the development of electronic resources for teaching and research in the humanities and social sciences, where he helped to develop new markets in Europe and Asia.  Before joining RCN Publishing in 2012 as Commercial Director, Tony spent 12 years in senior sales and marketing roles for IOP Publishing.  The one thing which each of the roles has in common is customer engagement, with Tony specialising in all aspects of sales, business development, marketing together with a drive for excellence in customer services.

Tony has also served as a Non Executive Director and Council Member for ALPSP as well as on the Serial Publishers Executive of the (UK) Publishers Association.  Moreover Tony has been involved in the planning and development of the STM Masterclass and now serves on STM’s Training Committee.

Apart from his native English, Tony is fluent in German, French and Italian.
