We have an exciting new opportunity for a Usage and Discovery Manager to join our Content & Platform Management team, focusing on data within our niche market.This role is based out of our central Bristol office, and there is also the potential for full remote working.

At IOP Publishing (IOPP), as a scientific publisher, one of our key strategic priorities is to increase the visibility and usage of research output. We are looking for a Usage and Discovery Manager to help shape the scope, impact and delivery of our initiatives. This pivotal role will ensure optimum visibility and usage of content on our online platform,IOP science, which hosts more than 130 years of leading scientific research.

Through data analysis and platform analytics you will form a clear understanding of how IOP’s electronic journals and books are discovered and used by researchers. You will apply this knowledge to lead on cross-departmental activities that maximise the usage of content, including marketing and technical initiatives. You will support sales and editorial teams in discussing usage with IOPP’s global customers, helping them to demonstrate high levels of usage and value from their holdings. Your expert knowledge and experience will be key to helping you investigate and trouble shoot issues with usage and discovery, and in coordinating solutions involving technical and customer services staff.


About you:

Successful applicants will possess or demonstrate:

· Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent work experience.

· Experience of analysing complex data, web analytics and experience of SEO is essential

· Experience of STM publishing preferable

· Experience of librarianship and working with COUNTER data desirable.

· Strong investigative and problem-solving skills using data analysis

· You will be a motivated self-starter, with the drive to own initiatives and promote ideas and solutions.

· You will need strong interpersonal and communication skills to manage and give presentations to internal and external stakeholders,particularly around complex data analysis.

· Staff management experience for managing one direct report.

· Excellent organisation and time management skills.
