Physics World is looking for a talented and ambitious Reporter to contribute to its website, magazines and other editorial products.

Working within the Physics World news team, you will be involved in writing, editing and commissioning high-quality news stories across the whole of physics - from covering the latest scientific advances to reporting on physics facilities, careers, policy, education and more.

As Reporter, you will also contribute to our multimedia output, including our video, podcast and webinar channels, as well as to other editorial activities as required.

Physics World is international in outlook and the reporter will have to show an interest and enthusiasm for reporting on physics wherever it happens in the world.

The successful candidate should demonstrate the following:

  • Degree in a physical sciences or engineering subject, plus a basic understanding of how scientific research is done
  • Good editing and writing skills
  • A demonstrable interest in all areas of physics and its applications, and the ability to rapidly learn about new areas of the subject
  • Ability to generate ideas and work with limited supervision to produce the required quality and quantity of output.
  • Ability to deal with a wide range of people (including colleagues, freelance contributors, academic researchers, and senior engineers and managers in industry).
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to articulate the aims of the magazine and the strategic goals of the product group.
