The Publisher is responsible for implementing the journal development strategies and delivering associated KPIs, by developing and implementing commissioning plans through desk-based and in-person author interactions. They are responsible for engaging and managing the Editorial Boards and managing partner relationships at the journal-level. The Publisher may deputise for the Senior Publisher as appropriate.Key job accountabilities include:Work with the Senior Publisher to shape and implement the portfolio and journal strategies;Develop and review commissioning plans in line with journal growth and citation targets and effectively communicate plans to Assistant PublisherTarget strategically important subject areas in line with subject field analysis and journal strategyRecruit special issue Guest Editors and day-to-day management of special issuesCarry out and keep records of desk-based and in-person commissioningRegularly inform Senior Publisher of commissioning activity progressDevelop Editorial Board succession plans to continually diversify and refresh the Editorial Board membershipIdentifying candidates for recruiting to the Editorial BoardsRegularly engage Editorial Board members to solicit community feedback, competitor intelligence, and input into scientific content developmentManage the Editorial Board meetings, including agenda preparation and chairingBuild new and develop existing relationships with potential authors and Editorial Board members through conference attendance and institutional visits, keeping within agreed budgetsDay-to-day point of contact for journal partners (where necessary)Coordinating partner meeting agenda (where necessary)Coordinating updates from Publishing, Finance and Commercial teams to share with partners (where necessary)Coordinate input from stakeholders across the business to review contract renewals and endorsement agreementsAbout you:Successful applicants should demonstrate the following:First degree or PhDSTM Publishing experienceExcellent communication skillsCollaborative approach to working with peersTo apply:To apply, please submit your CV and a covering letter through our careers site highlighting your previous experience and how it applies to the role, and why you are interested in this opportunity and IOP Publishing.About us:IOP Publishing is an international scientific publisher, through which leading-edge research is distributed worldwide.
