We are looking for a (Partner) Publisher to join our team on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave for approximately 12 months. 

This is an exciting opportunity to enrich your publishing career, not only by learning more about our fantastic portfolio of partners and partner journals but also by working on a number of interesting projects including flipping a journal to Open Access. You will have the chance to gain a wider understanding of how the publishing landscape is changing and how our services and support is helping our partners navigate this successfully. You will work with organisations around the world, helping them develop and implement a strategy for their journals. This role will help you advance your understanding of journal business models and finances, as well as build up your relationship management skills. 

Role Overview

As a Publisher you will manage a portfolio of journals published by IOPP on behalf of society partners. You will be the key contact for the partner organisations and together with colleagues across IOPP will work to ensure that we provide a strong, strategic partnership, and that our fantastic services continue to benefit the global scientific community. 

Applicants who wish to work on either a part-time or full-time basis will be considered. There will be an expectation for you to travel internationally approximately 3-4 times per year to visit partner organisations or attend conferences.

What will you be doing?

Key job accountabilities include:

  • Work with internal teams to make sure the journals are growing and of high quality;
  • Manage relationships with partner organisations;
  • Contribute to the strategy for both journals publishing and partner publishing;
  • Ensure alignment with partners on strategic journal development;
  • Work with partners across different cultures and time zones, adjusting your approach as necessary.

About you:

Successful applicants should demonstrate the following:

  • STM journal publishing experience;
  • Excellent understanding of how the publishing industry is evolving;
  • Great team working skills and strong ability to influence;

Flexible Working:

We will consider applicants from a wide geographical area who are happy to travel to Bristol on occasion.
