Pharmaceutical Press (PhP) is the publishing division of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and is a leading provider of authoritative pharmaceutical information used throughout the world.

Led by the non-executive Chair of the Board, non-executive directors are asked to provide entrepreneurial guidance to PhP to combine profitability with effective risk management; review and approve PhP strategy, budget and business plan; and maintain oversight of the structure and governance of PhP.

The ideal candidate will have previous Board experience, preferably in a similar-sized or larger organisation; a track record of successful leadership in a dynamic commercial environment; familiarity with publishing and media issues (preferably gained directly by working in, or closely with, a publishing company); understanding of the objectives and ethos underlying the not-for-profit publishing sector; ambassadorial skills both within business but also within governmental, academic and professional bodies; and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

The role is part-time and requires an average commitment of 1 day per month, including attendance of Board meetings four times per year. It will be remunerated by honorarium with appropriate cover for expenses. An initial appointment of three years is expected, with the possibility of renewal for a further three years.
