Position: Editorial AssistantContract: Fixed term contract ending on 1st September Salary: Up to $12,500Start date: ASAPThe Editorial Assistant will support the Publisher to manage a list of owned, co-owned, and contract journals; works with internal publishing and external editorial teams to implement the strategic development of existing and planned journals in print and online; and manages relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including society partners, to ensure that editorial and financial targets are met.ResponsibilitiesJournal development and strategy including working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that strategy is implemented and targets are metPlanning, attending and assisting with editorial and management meetings Representing BMJ at external meetings and conferences when necessaryManaging editorial and production relationships Providing some administrative support such as running, analyzing and sharing reports on the journal and competitors to editor and editorial boards.Supporting the Publisher in the project management of the launch and transition of new titlesUpdating journals’ non-content web pages to ensure accuracyProviding reports and data on the impact of online activityMaintaining and updating payment schedules for editorial honoraria, society invoicing, supplement invoicing, etc.General tasks including maintaining accurate records for editorial board members and gratis lists, working with marketing to coordinate exhibitions, marketing materials, etc. and assisting the publishing team in promoting cross departmental collaborationQualificationsHave a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalentHave excellent communication skills and ability to work across a team of internal and external stakeholdersDemonstrate excellent organizational skill and the ability to prioritize a high volume of tasksBe resourceful and proactive in dealing with problems and queriesBe self motivated and detail orientedHave experience in academic and scholarly publishing (preferred) Why should you apply?BMJ is a global healthcare knowledge provider with a vision for a healthier world.
