We have seen significant growth in our ebooks and conference proceedings business and we now have three exciting opportunities to join our team based in Bristol, UK. These roles are integral to the success of our ebooks and Conference Series programmes, as well as the overall success of IOP Publishing, and will allow the right candidates to make their mark on this expanding area of the business.

Associate Director (ebooks and conference proceedings)
This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly experienced, credible and commercially-focused Associate Director to lead our ebooks and conference proceedings teams. Reporting to the Publishing Director, you’ll be a key member of the publishing senior management team responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership to ensure the continued success of our global business.

Through your extensive experience of ebook publishing, you will lead the teams in all commissioning activities to meet the overall targets for our programmes. A strategic thinker, you’ll be responsible for driving growth through new products, partners and projects using key market analysis and by developing strong working relationships with our authors, editors and partners.

A strong leader with the ability to build and motivate effective teams, you’ll mentor and develop your team to maximise growth and performance. Your exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills will mean that you excel at interacting with, and influencing key stakeholders.

Commissioning Editor
As an integral part of a growing team, you’ll commission, develop and see through to publication new titles for our borne-digital book programme. Working closely with production, marketing and sales you will ensure that any new ebook titles are published on time, to specification, and to budget. Success will be down to your excellent ability to match hot topics with top authors, ensuring that we deliver the best academic content and standards. You’ll identify new market opportunities and maintain an understanding of key industry developments, particularly within the ebooks and digital markets so you can incorporate this into our growth strategy.

You’ll be a great networker coupled with a strong drive for results, so you can build and maintain excellent working relationships, to convert commissioning opportunities to saleable product.

Editorial Assistant
This is one of the key roles within the ebooks team, supporting the commissioning editors through the book publishing process. Working closely with our authors through the manuscript development phase, your excellent communication and administrative skills will help to ensure our ebooks are delivered on time and to the required specification.
You’ll work independently as well as within a team, using your exceptional organisational skills, adaptability and willingness to learn. With a proactive approach to work, you’ll have an eye for detail to ensure work is delivered to a very high standard.
