We are looking to appoint a collaborative and customer-focused Associate Editor to join our team on a permanent basis.

The Associate Editor ensures that the peer review process across a number of journals is efficient and of high quality. Reporting to the Peer Review Team Manager, you will work with a team of Editors, Editorial Assistants, and other Associate Editors. You’ll also interact with teams across the business, such as Research Integrity, Journals Development and Marketing, as well as external stakeholders.

You’ll play a part in maintaining and improving the efficiency of the peer review service and the quality of the content in journals, and your role will have an impact on supporting the physics community.

This role offers the opportunity to see cutting-edge research, support customers through the publication process, and work with a variety of stakeholders.

What will you be doing?

Key job accountabilities:

  • Manage peer review on a number of titles within the portfolio;
  • Maintain peer review turnaround times and acceptance levels;
  • Contribute to continuous initiatives for increasing peer review efficiency and quality;
  • Work with different teams (such as Journals Development, Marketing and Journalism) to identify key articles for promotion and improve journal visibility.

About you:

Successful applicants should demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrable customer service skills;
  • Experience in communicating with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Strong team working skills;
  • Time management, planning and decision-making skills;
  • A scientific undergraduate degree is preferred, but we are happy to consider truly excellent candidates without;
  • Awareness of STM Publishing would be desirable, but it is not essential.
