STM Early Career Ideas Factory

Save the date!

Collaborate with professionals from all career stages on bridging the generational gap in publishing and creating a more diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible research ecosystem.

What’s this?

STM is inviting you to a live event where you can brainstorm with colleagues on a variety of topics geared towards bridging the generational gap in publishing and creating a more diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible research ecosystem. Hear from early career researchers, executives, and other industry professionals about their experiences and needs in publishing.

Here, cross-generational collaboration is on the menu via panel discussions, small group workshops (idea labs) and networking sessions. These formats will pave the way for us to learn from one another — and tackle questions around multi-generational needs and how to increase DEIA in STM publishing.

What to expect?

  • Hear directly from “digital native” early career researchers and how they find, consume, and use content — and what they want from publishers and institutions.
  • Find out how executives are recruiting and retaining early career talent in their organisations
  • Join two breakout sessions on Career Progression and Bridging the Generational Gap and Accelerating DEIA in Publishing. Attendees can explore such topics as how to build skills; identify and solution barriers to learning and career progression; create a more equitable reward & recognition system for researchers and other contributors and how to improve access to and accessibility of content, encouraging community interaction on emerging DEIA topics
  • Learn more about STM’s Early Career Publisher Committee and hear from mentors and mentees of the STM Mentorship Scheme talking about their experiences.
  • Network with publishing professionals of all career stages and celebrate the end of STM Week with a Drinks Reception!
