AGORA
Access to Global Online Research in Agriculture
Following the initial success of HINARI in 2002, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) requested that publishers of research in agriculture, fisheries, forestry and related biological, social science and economic sciences allow access to appropriate journals for researchers in the developing world. AGORA (Access to Global Online Research in Agriculture) was launched by the Director General of the FAO and the Chair of STM in Rome, October 2003.
Agora provides a collection of 1278 journals to institutions in 107 countries. AGORA is designed to enhance the scholarship of the many thousands of students, faculty and researchers in agriculture and life sciences in the developing world.
Blackwell Publishing, CABI Publishing, Elsevier, Kluwer Academic Publishers, Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins, Nature Publishing Group, Oxford University Press, Springer Verlag and John Wiley & Sons were the founding publishers of AGORA, initially providing access to more than 400 of their journals.
