Nicko Goncharoff

Nicko Goncharoff’s career has been at the intersection of technology and scholarly research and communication. He co-founded and ran two AI software companies focused on supporting scientific research, selling the second to what would become Digital Science in late 2009. In nine years at Digital Science, he mentored numerous startups, built the publisher relations team and established Digital Science as a presence in scholarly communications. As part of the Digital Science senior management team, Nicko also informed and supported overall product, investment and business strategy.

Most recently Nicko joined Clarivate in the new role of Managing Director, Business Development, Greater China, overseeing the Web of Science Group growth strategy there. This sees him working closely with Chinese research universities, publishers and government organisations. Fluent in Mandarin, Nicko splits his time between China and the UK.

Nicko has contributed to several STM initiatives, chairing the Working Group on Scholarly Collaborative Networks and serving as technical representative on the STM CSP Executive Steering Group.
