Michelle M. Volesko Brewer

Michelle Volesko Brewer is currently the embedded librarian and manager of market intelligence at Wolters Kluwer in New York, for Ovid and LWW.  She provides research and analysis in support of strategic and tactical initiatives.

Prior to joining Wolters Kluwer in 2010, she was director of the Library at the New Jersey Hospital Association (trade group for NJ hospitals) for 31 years. In this role she supported for-profit, non-profit and lobbying divisions, grants from major foundations, business and health services research, and its evidence based medicine initiatives with IHI and others. In this role she directed web content for the association’s multiple websites, wrangled 60+ member discussion forums, the association’s copyright, reprints and archive, and its software  dept. She served as director/fiduciary for a multistate library licensing consortium, working extensively within the healthcare industry and with all types of libraries. Examples of successful past projects in this role include selecting and implementing an association-wide information management system, association publishing standards and establishment of the first cooperative regional ILL network.

She has been elected to leadership positions on the local, state and national levels and appointed to numerous committees and boards. She has authored or co-authored dozens of articles, reports and posters and delivered more than 100 presentations. She is a past recipient of the N.J. Health Sciences Librarian of the Year Award, the MLA’s HLS Professional Recognition Award for Publications & Research, and most recently the Wolters Kluwer Health "Medical Research 2013 Employee Values Award.”
