Jan Orick

Jan Orick is currently Director of the Biomedical Library at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis TN. As the Director of the Biomedical Library, she reports to the VP-Research Operations and is responsible for strategically aligning all aspects of the library with the goals and research focus of the institution , including budget preparation, staffing, technology, services, and acquisitions and collection development.. As the contact person with the vendors, Jan is responsible for negotiating, reviewing, and managing all the site licenses and contracts for the institution’s library resources. She oversees and assists her faculty with the National Institute of Health (NIH) Public Access Policy compliance to ensure continued grant funding. Jan also represents the institution on local and national library organizations and has served on various publisher library advisory boards. She is a member of the Medical Library Association and a Distinguished Member of the Association of Health Information Professionals.. She is a member in the Southern Chapter of the Medical Library Association and received the Chapter award for Hospital Librarian of the Year in 2002. In 2008, she was awarded the MLA Hospital Librarian of the Year award. Jan is an avid fan of Formula One racing.
