Ian Russell

Ian Russell is Editorial Director for Science at Oxford University Press.  He has worked in scholarly publishing for 20 years including previous positions as Head of Publishing at The Royal Society and Chief Executive Officer of the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP).  At ALPSP he further developed a broad and deep knowledge of all of the issues facing the industry, working closely with the STM Association, AAP-PSP and the UK Publishers Association in support of the international scholarly publishing industry.  He has served on a number of industry panels and Boards including: the Board of the International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publications (INASP), the Project TRANSFER steering group, the Publishing Research Consortium, the Copyright Licensing Agency, the Publishers Licensing Society, the UK National Commission UNESCO Working Group on Improving Access to Scientific Information for Developing Countries, the CrossRef Membership and Fees Committee, the Research Information Network’s Research Communications Group, the Resource Discovery Taskforce and a four-year term as the publishing representative on the Board of JISC.
