Deborah Kahn

Deborah Kahn has worked in scholarly publishing for over 40 years, most recently in senior management positions at Taylor & Francis and previously Springer Nature.

Deborah’s career has included a variety of roles incorporating books, journals, and databases, print and electronic, subscription and open access, not-for-profit and commercial publishers.  She has been a member of the board of OASPA, the Serials Publishing Executive of the Publishers Association, the EC-funded Study of Open Access Publishing, the training committee of STM, and has been an expert advisor to the European Science Foundation. She is currently a Trustee and Council member of COPE.

Deborah has an advanced understanding and experience of ethical issues in research and journals publishing. At BioMed Central, she created one of the first Research Integrity teams in a publishing company. In 2015, she coordinated efforts between the Think, Check, Submit campaign to educate authors on how to recognise ethical publications.
