Daniel Schiff

Daniel Schiff is Senior Vice President and Publisher - Journals, at Thieme New York.  Based in Paris, Daniel is also the founding director of Thieme’s subsidiaries in India and Brazil. He began his career as a neuroscientist, working in the USA, Italy and Germany, before moving into STM publishing. During the last 25 years he has taken progressively greater roles within the industry, first at Pergamon Press, then at Elsevier. In the early 2000s Daniel became a consultant, working as an entrepreneurial deal-maker doing M&A in STM/Legal publishing before taking a position at Thieme heading their English-language journal publishing program and spearheading new international business developments.

During his career to date, Daniel has managed over 300 journals, and overseen the acquisition of a dozen publishing houses.  His interests are in developing reference perennial economic models for the changing market place in STM publishing, and in supporting sturdy metrics to measure the positioning and growth of knowledge dissemination tools.
