Carol Richman

Carol has over twenty years experience in professional and scholarly publishing, and her focus has been on electronic publishing and licensing issues and activities.   Carol currently sits on the CrossRef Board as the representative for SAGE Publications, and she chairs the Audit Committee. Carol joined SAGE over ten years ago and has focused on delivering journal and book content via electronic means.; she currently overseas SAGE’s Licensing Department and has direct responsibility with regard to content delivery to third parties.  She is also instrumental in policy decisions regarding e-content delivery.  Prior to joining SAGE, Carol was with Lippincott Williams & Wilkins as Director of Licensing where she implemented strategic policies regarding electronic delivery and streamlined content workflows.

Carol also serves on the Copyright Committee of the American Association of Publishers.  Additionally, Carol sits on the STM Copyright Committee.  Carol is a member of the Society for Scholarly Publishing and has been active on their education and development committees where she has helped to plan, promote, and moderate seminars. Carol also serves on the Research4Life Executive Council and she is a member of the CLOCKSS Advisory Board.  She frequently speaks at meetings on copyright issues and the creation of electronic products.  Carol has recently taken on a new role with ALPSP North America as a member of its advisory board and on its education committee in planning copyright and licensing seminars.
