As part of its work to develop resources for publishers engaged in education, outreach, or advocacy with librarians, faculty, administrators, civil servants, legislators, and the general public, the STM Public Affairs Committee has just released a paper entitled “An Overview of Scientific, Technical and Medical Publishing and the Value it adds to Research Outputs”. The paper explains who we are and what we do as an industry, and includes material on the value publishers add to the process of scientific communication, key industry statistics, and a section on STM publishers and open access.
