Brian Crawford to head ACS's publications division
Brian D. Crawford, Ph.D., has been selected as new President of the American Chemical Society's Publications Division, succeeding Robert Bovenschulte, who is retiring after 10 years in that position. The Division publishes or co-publishes 36 chemistry journals and Chemical & Engineering News, as well as reference books and conference proceedings. The American Chemical Society is the world's largest scientific society.
Prior to joning the ACS in 2004, Crawford served for 14 years in a variety of leadership positions at John Wiley & Sons. In other publishing positions, Crawford worked for Alan R. Liss and Academic Press. He is chairman of the Executive Council of the Professional and Scholarly Publishing Division of the Association of American Publishers, and has served on the Board of Directors of the American Medical Publishers Association and the Wiley Foundation.
